Kuwait Lodges ICAO Complaint Over Alleged Iranian Airport Attacks

(MENAFN) Kuwait has submitted a second formal protest to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), accusing Iran of violating its airspace and targeting the country’s main international airport, according to official statements issued on Sunday.

The Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Directorate said it delivered the letter to ICAO in response to what it described as “Iranian violations and attacks that have targeted Kuwait's sovereignty by violating its airspace and the facilities of its international airport.”

The statement further stressed that such actions represent “a blatant and dangerous violation of international covenants and agreements regulating civil aviation.”

According to Kuwaiti authorities, the alleged drone and missile strikes occurred earlier in the week, resulting in one death, 63 injuries, and significant damage to infrastructure at Kuwait International Airport.

Officials warned that the incidents pose a serious risk to airport operations, including passenger safety, airline activity, staff security, and critical airport facilities.

The Civil Aviation Directorate added that the complaint reflects Kuwait’s continued efforts to pursue international legal channels in response to what it considers repeated breaches of its sovereignty.
