Kuwait Prevents Alleged Hezbollah-Tied Plot Targeting Government Leaders
The Interior Ministry reported that the state security apparatus intercepted the plan following extensive surveillance and monitoring operations. Six suspects were arrested inside Kuwait, including five Kuwaiti nationals and one individual whose citizenship had been revoked, while 14 others remain outside the country.
The ministry stated that the detained and wanted individuals include five Kuwaiti citizens, five former Kuwaiti nationals, two Iranian nationals, and two Lebanese nationals. The network was reportedly linked to the banned Hezbollah organization and had planned assassination attempts targeting key state figures, in addition to recruiting others to carry out the attacks.
Authorities said the suspects admitted to joining the group and communicating with its members, while showing willingness to execute operations intended to harm the country’s leadership and national interests.
The ministry added that the suspects also confessed to receiving advanced military training abroad, including instruction in weapons and explosives, surveillance techniques, and assassination methods.
