Kuwait Condemns Iranian Missile, Drone Strikes Amid Rising US-Iran Tensions

(MENAFN) Kuwait has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting its territory, characterizing the incident as a serious escalation that undermines the country’s sovereignty and security, according to official statements reported by national media outlets.

Authorities in Kuwait stated that the strikes represent a direct danger to both civilians and critical infrastructure. They called on Iran to immediately halt what they referred to as “aggressive attacks,” emphasizing that the country holds Tehran fully responsible for any consequences. Kuwait also reiterated that it retains the right to take all necessary steps to defend its territory and safeguard national security.

The statement followed claims from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which said earlier that it had carried out a strike against a US military base in Kuwait. According to reports citing Iranian sources, the operation was presented as retaliation for an American aerial strike near Bandar Abbas Airport in southern Iran.

The IRGC described the action as a warning and declared:

“This response is a serious warning so that the enemy knows that aggression will not go unanswered,”

It further added that if similar actions are repeated, “if repeated, our response will be more decisive”.

Iranian officials also claimed that their response came shortly after US forces conducted operations involving drones near the Strait of Hormuz, including the downing of Iranian unmanned aircraft and strikes on a ground control facility in Bandar Abbas.

A US official, as cited in reports, described those military actions as “measured” and “purely defensive,” stating they were intended to protect personnel and maintain stability during ongoing tensions.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities condemned the US strikes near Bandar Abbas, accusing Washington of breaching a fragile ceasefire framework and escalating regional instability, according to official Iranian statements reported by media outlets.
