Kuwait Denounces Iranian Attacks on Its Territory as Illegal, Escalatory
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the assaults represent "a serious escalation and a direct violation of Kuwait’s security and stability" and pose a "grave threat to the civilian safety and critical infrastructure” in Kuwait.
According to reports, Kuwaiti authorities warned that the repeated attacks are undermining regional efforts aimed at reducing tensions while jeopardizing broader security and stability across the area. The government reaffirmed its firm opposition to such actions.
"Kuwait reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and defend its territory," the ministry stated, adding that Iran is being held "fully responsible for these unlawful attacks."
Earlier on Monday, Kuwait’s armed forces announced that air defense units successfully intercepted what they described as "hostile missile and drone attacks" after warning sirens were activated and emergency alerts were issued across the country.
According to reports, regional tensions have remained elevated since Feb. 28, when military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran triggered retaliatory drone and missile strikes by Tehran against targets across the region, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation came into effect on April 8, but subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad failed to secure a permanent settlement. Since then, reports indicate that Tehran and Washington have continued exchanging proposals and counterproposals as both sides seek a pathway toward renewed direct negotiations and a possible end to the conflict.
